About BRUSSELS BY LIGHTs

brussels-by-lights-photo-event-2019

Bright lights, big city.

Launched as Shop by Lights in 2012, this growing project brings Christmas illuminations to streets and shopping areas across the wider capital.

In 2020, the City of Brussels wanted to lift the community’s spirits by continuing the tradition.

And so, the magic of the festive season was recreated to bring light into these dark times.

In total, 16.4 km of displays and 8.8 km of fairy lights lined 142 streets and shopping areas, including 11 new additions. Amongst the most striking were the creations of Charles Kaisin in the Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries and City Hall courtyard, the installations on Place de la Monnaie (Vermell) and Place Fontainas (Trumpet Flowers), and several three-dimensional artworks.
