{"id":333,"date":"2025-02-03T10:43:29","date_gmt":"2025-02-03T10:43:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brusselsmajorevents.be\/?page_id=333"},"modified":"2025-04-22T08:17:27","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T08:17:27","slug":"sustainability","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.brusselsmajorevents.be\/en\/sustainability\/","title":{"rendered":"Sustainability"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reducing impact, maximizing engagement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Through concrete and measurable actions, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact during our events.<br>Discover our goals, results, and the initiatives we are implementing for a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--nextpage-->\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustainable action plan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Internal audit and consulting with VO Event 2020\u20132021<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sustainable event action plan devised during 2021 and presented to stakeholders in the Brussels event management sector at Share in early 2022<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Aims<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Setting our priorities and establishing a progressive three-year plan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three main workstreams that could have an immediate impact through our actions and resources:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>social inclusion and awareness-raising<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>waste management (reduction via reusable serveware in particular)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use of resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Every event is unique and so the measures are adaptable with varying scopes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Some of our results over the last three years<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over 1,900,000 reusable cups used at our events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over 130,000 reusable food containers in the test phase<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2,501 kg of surplus food collected and transformed into more than 5,000 meals redistributed to vulnerable people (families, former prisoners, the lonely, the isolated\u2026)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over 1,200,000 litres of municipal (drinking) water saved by the addition of dry toilets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tens of tonnes of waste sent to the right channels thanks to the sorting system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nearly 200 Brussels artisans with a salespoint on the Winter Wonders Christmas market (notably the Creators Factory) and\/or who have benefitted from our accreditation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dozens of interns\/students educated on the issue of street harassment (equal opportunities training)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over 70 trophies and urban furniture benches\/tables made with wood salvaged from the Christmas tree on Grand-Place<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over 40 Brussels-based charities consulted and partnering events launched in the different districts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dozens of cultural venues included for the diversity and projects they bring to Brussels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Our work continues&#8230;<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone knows that the challenges of sustainability are ongoing and will shape the future:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Developing monitoring tools to measure the scope of our actions and better address our City\u2019s priorities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Building exemplary models that the Brussels event management sector could use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always considering the alternatives under development (e.g. serveware)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Incorporating ever-greater inclusivity into our project structures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raising awareness of gender issues and making the necessary progress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening a united event management network to identify bespoke innovations and solutions for every event format<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Challenging ourselves to go further in our sustainable measures and reviewing them alongside the priorities outlined in the coalition agreements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Reducing impact, maximizing engagement Through concrete and measurable actions, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact during our events.Discover our goals, results, and the initiatives we are implementing for a more sustainable future.","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":10,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"page-static.php","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-333","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<title>Sustainability -
